Christopher was inspired by the magical theatrical transformations he witnessed while training for two months with Le Theatre du Soleil in Paris. Their resident mask maker, Erhard Stiefel, is a true master of the art of mask making and remains an enduring exemplar for him of the expressive, aesthetic possibilities that can be accomplished. His first foray into making masks began when he was asked to teach how to make them! Over time, his own practice developed and deepened and it has become an ongoing fascination.
Christopher makes masks for theatre, for use within aspects of his teaching practice, sometimes responding to commission and always with pleasure.
